[dropcap]A[/dropcap]long Cradock’s most historic streetscape you’ll find Karoo Comfort Zone Health, Beauty & Wellness Centre in a restored 1850s house.Founder Lucille Ferreira started the salon out of her converted garage after she moved from Jeffrey’s Bay to Cradock in 2007. It was immediately the talk of the town. Cradock women would get together in coffee shops and report back on their latest facial, hot stone treatment, luxurious full body massage and general pampering they had received.
Karoo Comfort Zone also offers reflexology, skin rejuvenation, manicures, pedicures, aromatherapy and make-up for bridal and special occasions, detoxification and body sculpting packages with lymph drainage, body wraps, Ozone Therapy and Ionithermie treatments.
So popular did Lucille’s little company become that she had to designate a room in her house as an extension.
Lucille was busy from early morning to night, but somehow found the time to start an organisation called the African Angels Wellness and Training Initiative.
She trained them through the Selah Institute (another of her projects). Depending on the level they attain (there are five), Angels can find jobs in wellness centres, old age homes, guesthouses, as au pairs or even therapists on luxury liners.
The Angels have become popular in various guesthouses and game lodges. They bring their own mobile wellness tents.
Lucille’s company is a big reason why weddings in Cradock and surrounding areas are so popular.
The fabulous new Karoo Comfort Zone, in partnership with Helen Murray, has now moved to be among the Tuishuise of Market Street, a few houses away from the Victoria Manor Hotel.
If you’re staying at hotel or the Tuishuise, ask about their special offer for a half-day of pampering.
